Pastor Lincoln E. Montgomery, a husband, father and grandfather enjoys spending time with his immediate family as well as his extended family. On July 27, 2016, he celebrates 42 years of marriage to his high school sweetheart, Annie Kate Dennis Montgomery. They are the proud parents of two adult children: the lovely Mrs. Jamai Sarah Barnes Muhammad and the handsome Mr. Jareau Thadies Montgomery. They also have six adorable and amazing grandchildren: Jarez Eugene Barnes, Cameron Elijah Barnes, and four granddaughters: Rachelle Lynn Montgomery, Janiyah Neshell-Re Montgomery, Jaisa Kate Barnes, and Sanaa Noel Montgomery. In addition to spending time with his family, Pastor Montgomery enjoys reading and traveling.
Pastor Montgomery, a Wichita native, is the youngest son of three sons born to the late Deacon Thadies Montgomery and the late Marguerite Ferguson Montgomery, the late Reverend Ralph Montgomery and Pastor Robert Montgomery of Independence, KS. He also has a third older brother, Mr. Marvin Montgomery of Aurora, CO, former NFL player of whom he is very proud. Pastor Montgomery attended local public schools and the University of Kansas, later earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Religion from Wichita State University. In addition to receiving a Master of Arts Degree in Christian Ministry from Friends University, Pastor Montgomery has completed numerous theological and seminary certificates from various Christian Education organizations locally, state-wide and nationally.
Pastor Montgomery, a gifted teacher and anointed preacher, was born into the Tabernacle Church family, and this summer he continues the celebration as he enters his 29th year of servant-leadership as Senior Pastor. The church currently has a membership of well over 1500 and is one of the oldest and largest predominantly African American congregations in the state of Kansas. Under his dynamic pastoral leadership, the church has experienced tremendous spiritual growth and is widely known for its strong Word ministry which provides a foundation for all the ministries to serve the congregation and community. Also under his leadership, the church has received over 100 awards and recognitions from numerous community organizations and governmental agencies at the local, state and national level for excellence in ministry. In 2016, Pastor Montgomery also celebrates 42 years of preaching and teaching the Word of God, having traveled this country and world doing revivals, conferences, seminars, workshops, special occasions, etc.
Pastor Montgomery has served as an adjunct Professor at Tabor College for more than 20 years and his community involvements and commitments are numerous and impressive (President of the W G Williams Community Foundation, Shepherd’s Fold Board, Wichita Guidance Center Board, Sedgwick County Crime Commission Board, Christian Ministry to Offenders Board, Vice President of the Wichita Baptist Ministers Union, Ministerial League, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Center for Health & Wellness Board, President of the SW District Congress of Christian Education, City of Wichita Personnel Advisory board, Wichita Food Bank Board just to name a few). He is still actively involved in the community and serves on several boards, commissions and committees. His ministry contributions have been recognized by Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Black Women’s Conference, Wichita Branch N.A.A.C.P., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, the KNOX Center, Counseling & Mediation Services, Wichita Colored Women & Girls Association, W. G. Williams Community Foundation, Wichita State University African American Faculty & Staff Association, Kansas African American Healthy Marriage Initiative (KAAHMI) and a host of other organizations and agencies. Pastor Montgomery has traveled the world extensively nationally and internationally, including several mission trips to Africa and several goodwill tours to Israel, appearing in several television broadcasts. He has received an award from the Real Men, Real Heroes Mentoring Program, and for several years, continues to have himself and his congregation be a part of Love Wichita.
The men most admired by Pastor Montgomery, aside from our Lord and Savior – Jesus Christ and his father, the late Deacon Thadies Montgomery are the Apostle Paul, the Rev. U.W. Barron (former Pastor of Tabernacle) and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He notes that two of the attributes which they all shared are great faith and obedience unto death.

In addition to spending time with her family, Lady Montgomery enjoys teaching, preaching and counseling; reading, writing, shopping, decorating, and basketball; and traveling and teaching/preaching at various events with her husband; and more than three decades of ministering in music with her eight younger siblings – The Dennis Family. She has traveled extensively nationally and internationally with her husband, Pastor Montgomery.
Lady Montgomery is the oldest daughter of nine children born to the late Rev. Dr. J.P. Dennis, Jr. and the late Mrs. Sarah N. Dennis. Rev. Dennis served 52 years as Pastor of the St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Wichita, KS. A native of Hope, Arkansas, Lady Montgomery grew up and attended local public schools in Wichita. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Personnel Administration from the University of Kansas and a Master of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Friends University, graduating summa cum laude.
After 30 years of service in municipal government with the City of Wichita, Lady Montgomery retired at the end of 2003. Previous to her last position in municipal government as Community Relations Liaison, she served for 20 years as Director of the City’s Civil Rights Office, an enforcement, advocacy and awareness agency for the civil rights and equal opportunity of all citizens.
Lady Montgomery has been involved in and recognized by numerous community organizations, including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, the Wichita Chamber’s Leadership Program, Black Women’s Conference, the Wichita Branch NAACP, the Civil Rights & Services Board, Florida Grant Women’s Missionary Society of the St. Paul AME Church, the Counseling and Mediation Center, Milleneum Edition of Who’s Who of American Women 2000, the National Conference for Community & Justice, Wichita office and the Kansas African American Healthy Marriage Initiative (KAAHMI). She is President of the Wichita Chapter of Links, Inc., and member of the Wichita Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Silhouettes, the American Association of Marriage & Family Therapists, the American Association of Christian Counselors, and the Kansas African American Healthy Marriage Initiative. She also serves as an Advisor to the Pastor’s Wives Network and secretary of the Rise Up For Youth, Inc. Board. Recently, she achieved the highly honorable status of Board Certified Professional Counselor by the American Psychotherapy Association of which she is a member. Lady Montgomery is also a charter member of Beta Chapter Delta Kappa International MFT Honor Society and lifetime member of Psi Chi, the Psychology. She recently had the distinction of being an Adjunct Professor for Friends University MFT Graduate Class.
Lady Montgomery has been preaching for 12 years. As a licensed, ordained minister, God has given her a heart and passion for ministering to God’s people, particularly families and women. Currently, she is a respected and integral part of the Tabernacle Church Staff and Leadership. She serves in the Associate Ministers Ministry, Family Ministry, Women’s Ministry and Worship Council. As a Licensed Clinical Marriage & Family Therapist (LCMFT), Lady Montgomery is also Founder & Director of the Tabernacle Family Life Counseling Center…counseling individuals, couples and families within the congregation and the community at large. She facilitates a weekly small Bible study/fellowship group in her home and teaches in the church Spiritual Gifts Ministry.
This year, she will complete a 4 year Christian Education Certificate of Completion under The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI).
She leaves a legacy of passion and advocacy for relational health through awareness of the interconnectedness and balancing of physical, emotional and spiritual health.
