Pastor Lincoln E. Montgomery

Pastor Lincoln E. Montgomery married his high school sweetheart, Annie Kate Dennis Montgomery, in 1974. A Wichita native, he is the youngest of three sons born to the late Deacon Thadies Montgomery and the late Marguerite Ferguson Montgomery. Raised with a great value placed upon education, he attended local public schools and would earn his B.A. from Wichita State University in 1975 and a Master of Arts from Friends University in 1993. This commitment to lifelong learning has demonstrated itself in his ongoing completion of numerous theological and seminary certificates from various institutions of Christian Education across the country, as well as serving as an Adjunct Professor at Tabor College for 30 years.

Pastor Montgomery came of age within the Tabernacle Baptist Church (now Tabernacle Bible Church) and his life and ministry were deeply marked by the pastoral ministry of the late Rev. U.W. Barron, who dynamically pastored the church in the mid-20th century. From this formation, Pastor Montgomery would receive his own call to the gospel ministry and be ordained in 1974, serving within Tabernacle in various capacities and ultimately installed as Pastor in 1987.

He has traveled extensively, both nationally and internationally, participating in radio and television broadcasts. He has been recognized for his service and contributions to the community with multiple awards and accolades from churches, community, state, and national organizations, including dozens of awards presented to Tabernacle Bible Church under his pastoral leadership.

In all of this, Pastor Montgomery has never lost his unwavering commitment to the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ because it is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes! (Romans 1:16).

Her educational journey would continue with her graduating from the TBC Christian Leadership and Development Institute (World Impact/TUMI satellite) in 2017, of which she now serves as Dean and a course Facilitator.

Professionally, Minister Montgomery completed a distinguished 30-year career serving the City of Wichita (1974-2004) with 20 of those years serving as Director of the Civil Rights Office of the city. Mission

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”
Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV)

Vision

Our vision is to build a unified, compassionate, and loving church family that is committed to sharing God’s love in a way that:

  • Provides a strong Word ministry
  • Nurtures understanding and appreciation for individual differences and needs
  • Encourages and enables members to use their spiritual gifts
  • Promotes individual and collective prayer
  • Provides an open and supportive organizational structure
  • Promotes a spirit of oneness based on God’s Word

So that we will be equipped to win souls for Christ, nurture and strengthen the church family, and have a positive impact throughout the community.

Beliefs

We hold the unity of the Godhead and the equal divinity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit:

  • a full and free salvation proclaimed to all in Christ;
  • justification by faith, not by works;
  • the absolute necessity of regeneration for salvation;
  • the Holy Spirit, the author and finisher of saving faith and sanctification;
  • the endurance of the saints by the grace of God;
  • the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting;
  • the eternal duration of rewards and punishments to be assigned by Christ, the judge of the quick and the dead, at His coming in glory.

We believe that the Word of God is the final and ultimate authority in all matters of faith and practice.

Since a small group of Christians came together in 1881 forming the nucleus of what is now Tabernacle Bible Church, the Lord has used the church in incredible ways to share the gospel and shape the lives of many all to the glory of God. We have walked with Christ for more than 140 years and the history of TBC is the history of God’s faithfulness.
